Connecting the Rio Conventions through Landscape Action: Governance and Finance in Practice

130 130 people viewed this event.

Integrated governance and landscape finance are powerful levers for territorial transformation, enabling more effective ecosystem restoration and management, enhanced climate resilience, greater food and water security, secure livelihoods for people, and climate-positive economic and social development. By promoting synergies across these areas, this approach helps align national policies with local realities, bridging gaps between sectors, stakeholders, and scales. Building on 1000L’s global experience, the event will showcase cases where collaborative approaches and practical tools have promoted policy coherence, while addressing the interconnected challenges of land use, livelihoods, and natural resources systems.

The session will explore: (1) case studies demonstrating how inclusive decision-making, territorial planning, and community monitoring can strengthen accountability and policy coherence; (2) innovations in landscape finance that help unlock investable, inclusive landscape portfolios; and (3) emerging systems for monitoring and transparency that build trust and mobilize climate-aligned investments. Panelists will share grounded experiences from Latin America, Africa, and Southeast Asia. At the same time, funders, policymakers, experts, and landscape leaders will reflect on enabling conditions and co-designed pathways for systemic change.
