Philanthropic Action for Thriving Landscapes
The private and public sectors hold the vast majority of financial assets available and needed for integrated landscape investment. Meanwhile, many philanthropies are taking action to stem the worst impacts of climate change, restore biodiversity and transform food systems. Several fund a number of landscape partnerships to advance their sustainability goals. Philanthropic organizations working together strategically are uniquely positioned to catalyze the system changes needed to unlock or redirect larger public and private financial flows and enhance their effectiveness.
During Climate Week NYC 2023, 1000 Landscapes for 1 Billion People (1000 Landscapes) united philanthropists supporting sustainable landscapes to discuss strategic areas for collaboration. The dialogue focused on strengthening landscape partnerships through long-term support, stimulating funding for landscape investment portfolios, and fostering finance system transformation. CDP North America hosted the dialogue.
