At COP28, 1000 Landscapes for 1 Billion People (1000L) launched a collaboration with Regen10, a coalition of 13 organizations focused on promoting regenerative practices to transform the global food system into one that is more sustainable, efficient, and both climate- and nature-positive. Together, they published a joint brief, “Landscape Collaboration for Regenerative Food Systems: Towards an Action Agenda,” to spur action to transform food systems.

Funding a Better Future: Open Letter Advocates for Global Financial System Transformation
As climate change’s impacts grow, leaders are pushing for increased financial resources that address the crisis while at the same time fostering biodiversity and rural development. 1000 Landscapes for 1 Billion People (1000L) launched an open letter to support this effort, Funding a Better Future: An Urgent Plea and Plan to Remake the Financial System to Support Holistic Landscape Development Led by Local People, that calls for transforming the global financial system. The letter asks financial and political leaders to adopt integrated landscape finance (ILF) as a coordinated and effective response to global challenges such as climate change and biodiversity loss.
The Richest Untapped Resources
It was a hot and sunny afternoon in a village nestled within Ecuador’s Chocó Andino de Pichincha Biosphere Reserve when the door to a more sustainable and just society opened in Natalia Ruiz-Guevara’s mind. The Peruvian forest engineer and Latin American Model Forest Network co-chair was touring this biodiversity hotspot to collaborate with residents there to understand how each person’s actions impact their neighbors and the ecosystems they all rely upon for health, food, water and livelihoods.
